In 1983, Maanam released the English edition of "Nocny Patrol" in the West. Night Patrol became the first band to make such a significant artistic leap at the time. The black cover and menacing title were clearly associated with the grim social situation in Poland.
The music of "Night Patrol" was congruent with the wave of Western new wave apocalyptic rock. Maanam, along with Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxie, and The Banshees, captured the aura of the early 1980s. Kora's songs, interwoven with the sounds of breaking glass and police sirens, recorded by British producer Neil Black, spoke volumes about Poland beyond many press reports.
