Shakatak is an English jazz and funk band founded in 1980.
Shakatak has earned several hits on the charts, including two of the Top 10 hits on the UK singles chart, "Night Birds" (1982) and "Down on the Street" (1984), as well as 12 more Guinness Book entries with British hits. is still active and popular around the world, especially in Japan and the Far East, and generally releases a new album on JVC Records every two years.
From their first release in August 1980 (Bill Sharpe's "Steppin" on Polydor) and their first album in 1981, Drivin 'Hard, the band's singles and albums regularly hit the charts
