Showaddywaddy is a pop / rock group from Leicester, England. They specialize in the revival of hits from the 1950s and early 1960s and original material. Showaddywaddy spent a total of 209 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and had top 10 singles, one of which reached number one. The band was formed in 1973 from the merger of two groups, Choise and Golden Hammers, often referred to simply as The Hammers. This led to the formation of an eight-piece band, with the unusual trait of having two singers, two drummers, two guitarists and two bass players. The two played at the Fosse Way pub in Leicester and soon discovered a shared musical tastes. After having fun together in jamming, they bonded permanently and Showaddywaddy was born. The band's first professional concert took place on September 1, 1973 at the Dreamland Ballroom in Margate, Kent.
